Accessible Sights @ The Enabling Village
The primary objective of this initiative is to create a multi-sensorial experience for both the visually impaired community and their loved ones, as well as to foster engagement and empathy within the general public.

Enabling Village kindly offered to be our venue sponsor, allowing us to pilot this meaningful initiative within their beautifully diverse campus to further augment their accessible facilities within the community. We also worked together, aiming to provide an alternative perspective on Enabling Village, allowing individuals to experience it beyond their sense of sight.
Renewed Experiences
Accessible Sights harnessed a variety of sensory stimuli to enrich the overall experience for all participants with the implementation of Multisensory Design Approach. There are a few key assistive elements;

Tactile Guide Booklet, Tactile-Audio Interactive System (TAIS) with QR code activated Audio Description;

Bluetooth windchimes’ audio sensor which guides the participants from one landmark to another.

Raising the changes in flooring textures which act as markers for persons with visual impairment when navigating.

The combination of these elements not only serve as visual descriptive information; it also serves as a practical directional aid for visually impaired participants while helping visitors uncover the sensory-rich environment.
Social Empathy

Through the deliberate pairing of visually impaired individuals with sighted buddies from the general public, we aim to create opportunities for genuine dialogue and shared experiences. A sighted participant mentioned that she gets to “see more”, gaining new perspectives through our event through the guided ‘activation’ of senses. A few mentioned that it’s their first time interacting closely with persons with visual impairment, gaining invaluable insights into the challenges and unique perspectives of navigating the world without sight.
Building Leaders
Accessible Sights aims to nurture leaders and provides leadership opportunities to individuals with different abilities. Through comprehensive training sessions with the incorporation of multisensory assistive materials, we equipped the guides to be independent docents- leading the tour groups with confidence. Our guides provided engaging and informative content, earning praise from participants for their professionalism and enthusiasm.
