TELECONSULTATION KIT

Health Station for the Elderly Community

GovTech

2023

Trigger Design Studio was approached by the GovTech team to design a housing that encases a tablet and a blood pressure monitor meant to be distributed to seniors.

The blood pressure monitor is synced automatically to the tablet, ensuring that seniors have minimal interactions with the digital tablet. Some may turn away some seniors due to perceptions of unfamiliarity.

This was part of a pilot program initiated by the smart city team in GovTech to encourage seniors to adopt and use technology that can potentially improve overall health and wellness amongst the community.

Health Station

Rather than simply designing a casing, we asked ourselves:
“How might we ensure that seniors will use the kit to monitor their health consistently?”

Through multiple user and stakeholder interviews, we found out that many seniors have a habit of storing their medication and health-related objects at a single spot within their homes. Leveraging on this, all we did was to design in a simple drawer for the elderly to store their medication alongside the devices.

By tapping on their existing habits, we ensure that the kit will be weaved seamlessly into their daily health routines.

The team then designed the 3D model that was eventually used for batch production and a 150 pilot kits have since been fabricated and distributed to the elderly communities.
